Vegan Paris

Paris, the city of love, is also a city for vegan food lovers 🥐🌱 From gourmet seasonal plant-based cuisine to the most incredible vegan croissants, the French capital is a dream destination for plant-based travellers. Contrary to what you might have heard, Paris is one of the best cities in Europe to eat vegan — and the scene has exploded over the past few years with genuinely world-class restaurants opening across every arrondissement.

From the elegant bistros of the 9th to the vibrant street food spots of the 10th, Paris rewards the adventurous plant-based eater at every turn. Here’s my guide to the very best vegan and plant-based restaurants in the city.

Best Vegan Restaurants in Paris

1. Le Potager de Charlotte — Gourmet Seasonal Plant-Based Cuisine

Le Potager de Charlotte is one of the most acclaimed plant-based restaurants in Paris, and chef David Valentin’s cooking is genuinely extraordinary. The menu changes with the seasons, drawing on organic, local and biodynamic produce to create dishes that are refined, imaginative, and deeply satisfying. This is not health food — it’s serious, creative cuisine that happens to be entirely plant-based, with flavour combinations and techniques that would impress in any top Parisian restaurant. With two locations (9th and 17th arrondissements), it’s now easier than ever to experience one of the city’s finest tables.

Wild & the Moon has become one of Paris’s most beloved plant-based café brands, with multiple locations across the city offering beautiful organic superfood bowls, cold-pressed juices, and plant-based dishes from morning to evening. The aesthetic is warm, natural, and effortlessly stylish — very Paris — and the food is genuinely nourishing rather than just photogenic. The golden latte, the açaí bowls, and the seasonal specials are all consistently excellent. A wonderful choice for breakfast, a light lunch, or an afternoon treat between sightseeing.

Cloud Cakes on rue Mandar in the 2nd arrondissement is exactly the kind of Parisian café that food dreams are made of — a completely plant-based coffee shop and bakery with a menu of brunch dishes, pastries, cakes, and indulgent treats that are honestly difficult to believe are vegan. The space is small, warm, and beautifully designed, with the kind of effortless Parisian chic that makes even a simple oat latte feel like a luxury. Jah Jah on rue des Petites Écuries in the 10th is one of Paris’s most vibrant and original vegan restaurants — a celebration of Afro-Caribbean cuisine and culture, entirely plant-based, with a menu that brings together bold flavours, beautiful spices, and real soul food energy. Founded by chef Coralie Kory, the restaurant serves dishes inspired by West African, Caribbean, and Ital cooking traditions, with rotating specials that change seasonally. 6. Le Potager du Marais — Classic French Bistro Dishes, Fully Vegan

Le Potager du Marais on rue Saint Paul is a true gem of the Paris vegan scene — a classic French bistro in the heart of the Marais neighbourhood, serving traditional bistro dishes entirely without animal products. Think vegan confit de canard, vegan gratins, tarts, and classic French comfort food, all done with real care and skill. The intimate dining room and warm service make it feel like a proper Parisian neighbourhood restaurant rather than a vegan niche spot. Open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, reservations are recommended, especially for weekends.

8. Land & Monkeys — France’s First 100% Vegan Bakery

Land & Monkeys holds a truly special place in the history of French vegan food — it was the first 100% plant-based boulangerie and pâtisserie in France, and it remains one of the very best. The croissants here are genuinely extraordinary: properly laminated, perfectly golden, and utterly convincing in a way that took years of R&D to achieve. The full range includes sourdough bread, viennoiseries, pastries, and seasonal specials, all made without any animal products. With multiple Paris locations (as well as Bordeaux and Aix-en-Provence), Land & Monkeys has proven beyond any doubt that vegan baking can rival — and sometimes exceed — the traditional French boulangerie.

9. VG Pâtisserie — France’s First Vegan Pâtisserie

VG Pâtisserie on boulevard Voltaire has the honour of being France’s first entirely vegan pâtisserie, open since 2016 and still producing some of the most beautifully crafted plant-based cakes and pastries in Paris. The window display is genuinely jaw-dropping: multi-tiered celebration cakes, tarts, éclairs, and seasonal creations that look like they belong in the window of any prestigious Parisian pâtisserie. The commitment to zero-waste and the Ecotable certification reflect a genuine ethos that goes beyond the food itself. Perfect for a mid-afternoon sugar fix or a special occasion cake order.

Paris is one of the most exciting cities in the world to eat vegan right now — and the myth that it’s difficult to eat plant-based in France has been thoroughly demolished. Start your morning at Land & Monkeys or Cloud Cakes for the perfect vegan Parisian breakfast. Head to the 9th for a cluster of excellent restaurants including Le Potager de Charlotte, The Friendly Kitchen, and Mesa. For a special dinner, Le Potager de Charlotte (book ahead) or Le Potager du Marais are both outstanding. And if you only have time for one sweet stop, VG Pâtisserie is non-negotiable.
