Calgary’s vegan scene is full of hidden gems and you need to know about them ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฑ From scratch-made tacos and burgers to plant-based sushi and ramen, YYC delivers serious plant-based eats. Calgary has a reputation as a cattle country city, but its vegan restaurant scene has quietly become one of the most exciting in Canada โ driven by a passionate community of chefs, bakers, and restaurateurs who are making plant-based eating in the city genuinely extraordinary.
Most of the vegan action in Calgary is concentrated in the Inglewood neighbourhood and along 17th Avenue SW. Here’s my guide to the best plant-based spots the city has to offer.
Best Vegan Restaurants in Calgary
1. Vegan Street YYC โ Calgary’s Beloved Vegan Comfort Food Spot

Vegan Street YYC on 9 Avenue SE in Inglewood is the beating heart of Calgary’s plant-based scene โ a beloved, buzzy restaurant that serves extraordinary vegan comfort food from scratch every single day. The tacos are legendary, the burgers are properly built and satisfying, and the wings (made from plant-based protein) have converted many a sceptic. The patio in summer is a joy, and the vibe throughout is welcoming, energetic, and genuinely fun. Food to live for โ the motto says it all.
